A dramatic, full-length layering piece rooted in Irish tradition and cut for modern movement.

Inspired by the traditional brat (pronounced brawt), Ireland's oldest outer layer. A generous cloak worn by women and men alike, it was at once shawl, blanket and outer layer: a weather-hardy cloak by day, a blanket by night, and shelter on long, slow journeys across the island. A good brat was prized for its warmth and its toughness, and often handed down through generations.

Our full-length interpretation keeps that generosity and adds sleeves and a soft tie, so it moves with you rather than needing to be held closed. Cut in reversible Irish linen, charcoal on one side and forest green on the other, it is clean finished inside and out, with no wrong side and no lining to hide anything. Worn loose it falls with ease; tied, it shapes without fuss. Turn it to suit the day.

Due to our made-to-order model, all pieces can be adjusted slightly if requested.

Linen softens and grows more beautiful with age, which is one of the reasons we love it so much. We recommend either hand washing or machine washing at 30°C separately. Leave to air dry naturally, then press with a warm iron if desired. Do not tumble dry.

Our made to order pieces have a production time of 3-4 weeks.
