The Tillie Top is a fun reimagining of our forever favourite Tillie Dress. The neckline is the thing: high, straight and set softly across the collar, with an elegant tie on one side. Subtle drama without ever asking for attention.

In Steam she takes on a different character altogether. A thicker, grey herringbone Irish linen with weight and texture to it, warmer and more autumnal than the stripe, finished with a soft self-fabric tie at the neck that can be knotted or left loose.

Cut with a deep yoke that releases into full gathers, she has volume without bulk. Wear her over the Bloomers in the same herringbone, or with the Cortado Barrel Pants for a warmer, richer pairing.

The model is 5'8 and wearing a size S/M.

    • Cut in Steam, a soft grey herringbone Irish linen

    • Self-fabric neck tie, wear knotted or loose

Measurements marked “laid flat” are taken across the garment, not around it.

Linen softens and grows more beautiful with age, which is one of the reasons we love it so much. We recommend either hand washing or machine washing at 30°C separately. Leave to air dry naturally, then press with a warm iron if desired. Do not tumble dry.

Our made to order pieces have a production time of 3-4 weeks.

Ready to ship items will be shipped within 1-2 working days.

Delivery is £6, and free on orders over £250.

No customs charges for any of our pieces if based in the EU.

    The Tillie

    From a dress, a top

The Tillie began as a dress, in navy stripe and in Bluebell, and became one of our favourites. We have reimagined her in a shorter version, so the same yoke and gathers could be worn with trousers.

    Worn as a set

    Linen, with weight.

A soft grey herringbone Irish linen, with the weight of autumn in it.

Herringbone is a weave you notice slowly. From across a room Steam reads as a plain, soft grey; up close the zigzag comes through, and with it a texture closer to a winter coat than a summer shirt. It is thicker and warmer than most linen, and still breathes the way linen does.

We cut it into a top and a pair of Bloomers, made to be worn together, or with Cortado for something richer.

Every piece is cut and sewn in Belfast by one of our sewists, who sees it through from the first cut to the last stitch.

We keep our making close to home on purpose. Belfast was once the linen capital of the world, and the skills that built it are rare now. Making here is how we keep them alive.
