An Aran, in linen
Years in the making
We have wanted to make an Aran jumper for as long as there has been a Kindred. Linen has none of the give of wool, and a cable needs give to hold its twist, so finding a yarn that would do it took time.
Finding the right knitters took longer: a small family business here in Ireland, who understood what we were after within about ten minutes of us trying to explain it.
So it has everything you would want from an Aran, the cables and the weight across the shoulders, but it breathes.
Look closer
An Aran, made our own
A wide collar with a crochet edge, cables through the body, and sleeves that fill with air before they meet the cuff.
-
The collar
Edged in crochet, by hand, in Belfast.
-
The cables
Down the front, and over the shoulders.
-
The sleeve
Full, and gathered into a ribbed cuff.
“I wanted it to feel like it had always been in the family.”
“The cables and the weight you know, but softer, lighter and a little romantic. The collar was the part I kept coming back to, and edging it in crochet was the moment it became ours.”
Amy Anderson, co-founder and Creative Director
Knitted in Ireland,
finished in Belfast.
Each jumper is knitted for us by a small family business in Ireland. It then comes home to Belfast, where our own team edge the collar in crochet, by hand.
The Aran Jumper is available to pre-order, and will be sent to you in early December.
