WILDE STUDIO INTERVIEW
On a bright morning in Co. Down, we visited Lindsey and Rachael of Wilde Studio - a floral duo brought together by a shared appreciation for the unconventional and creating arrangements that capture the beauty of the unexpected.
With a personal style rooted in simplicity and intention, styling the girls in florals and elevated earth tones felt like a natural reflection of their creative spirit. Having collaborated with Wilde Studio for a few years, it was a joy to bring together our shared appreciation for craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and the beauty in the finer details.
For our SS26 collection, Wilde Studio curated a selection of flowers for our bespoke Pressed Flower linen, which features on a range of pieces from Beetled Parachute Trousers to our much-loved Pressed Flower Rugby Shirt.
Read on as we chat with Lindsey and Rachael about what style means to them, the story behind Wilde Studio, and the inspiration that continues to shape their work.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
Being able to combine creativity with artistry and continually explore new ideas is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. Within that, the trust and creative freedom we're given by our wonderful couples is a real privilege, allowing us to create designs that feel both meaningful and uniquely tailored to them. We feel incredibly lucky to work with people who trust us with one of the most important days of their lives and allow us to create something that feels deeply personal to them. Every wedding is different, which keeps our work endlessly inspiring. We love getting to tell each couple's story through flowers, creating designs that reflect their personalities and the atmosphere they want to create.
We also love collaborating with like-minded local brands, such as Kindred of Ireland, whose appreciation for craftsmanship, quality and timeless design aligns so naturally with our own approach. It's always a joy to work alongside people who share a passion for creating beautiful, meaningful experiences.
What are you currently inspired by?
Our families inspire us every day to put our best foot forward and make them proud. As our biggest supporters, they have given us the confidence to take risks and build the business we dreamed of. Their encouragement, patience (understanding our 5 mins often mean 55 minutes... 10pm is the new 5pm in floristry), and belief in us have motivated and inspired us in countless ways. The truth is simple: without them, Wilde would not exist.
Beyond that, we look to nature, interiors and architecture for new takes on colour palettes, texture and form—whether it's the unique little quirk of a stem, warmth of a beautifully designed space or the clean lines of a striking building we are constantly inspired by the delights surrounding us. We're also inspired by the incredible work of other florists in the UK, America and Australia, each bringing their own perspective to flowers and pushing the boundaries of contemporary floral design. Drawing inspiration from different places and disciplines helps keep our work feeling fresh, thoughtful and ever-evolving.
How has your friendship influenced the business you've built together?
Wilde was founded after a mutual love of all things alternative and a yearning for the beautifully unconventional with that sophisticated edge. Flowers first brought us together at Lindsey & Aaron’s wedding in 2019, and by the summer of 2023 we embarked on our Wilde adventure together and haven't looked back since. Along the way, we've discovered that we're remarkably alike in many ways (both big fans of a good concert, great food and a little wine or two after a big wedding setup!), while our differences complement each other perfectly. Rachael is drawn to delicate, romantic details and softer, frillier elements, while Lindsey loves clean lines, structure and architectural forms. Those contrasting styles bring balance to our work and allow us to approach each design from different perspectives. It's quickly become a unique, beautiful juxtaposition we just can't get enough of.
Do you see a connection between how you dress and how you create?
Absolutely. We're drawn to pieces that feel relaxed yet refined—clothing that is practical enough for the realities of our work, while still feeling timeless and considered. We approach our floral designs in much the same way. We're inspired by a modern take on sophistication, balancing natural, effortless beauty with thoughtful detail. Whether it's what we wear or what we create, it’s an ever evolving appreciation of alternative shapes, tones, and silhouettes that feel familiar, authentic and unmistakably us.
What does style mean to you?
Style, to us, is an extension of who we are. It's less about following trends and more about choosing pieces that feel authentic, comfortable, and effortless. Don't get us wrong—we've both made our fair share of questionable fashion choices over the years (the glory days of the noughties, anyone?), but as we've grown, our style has evolved into a true reflection of our individual personalities and values.
As we mentioned earlier, it didn't take long for us to realise just how much we had in common, and our approach to style is certainly one of those things. More often than not, we find ourselves gravitating towards similar pieces without even realising it. The difference is that we each bring our own personality and perspective to an outfit, making it uniquely our own.
Over time, we've become more intentional about investing in quality pieces that work hard within our wardrobes—timeless staples that can be worn and loved again and again. For us, getting dressed each day is about finding the balance between practicality, professionalism, and self-expression, especially in a hands-on creative profession like floristry. When you're dressed in something that feels comfortable and truly reflects who you are, you can step forward with confidence and take on whatever the day brings.
If Kindred were a bouquet, what flowers would be in it and why?
Kindred would be a bountiful bouquet bursting with tulips and sweet peas. Tulips bring a sense of understated elegance and timeless beauty, while sweet peas add softness, movement and their unmistakable scent. Gathered together in our signature Wilde style, it’d be a bouquet we would reach for again and again. Together, they feel natural, relaxed and quietly refined—beautiful without trying too hard. The fact that both flowers can also be grown locally makes them especially fitting for Kindred's deep rooted connection and use of Ireland's natural products.
