We are so delighted to introduce a big new step for us as a brand by introducing Donegal Tweed to our core collection. Donegal tweed is where our love of Irish textiles goes deepest. Woven in Ardara, County Donegal, the cloth carries the colours of the landscape it comes from.

The Tweed Jacket is our Kindred take on a traditional double-breasted suit jacket. We wanted it to feel like you had thrown on your grandad's tweed, with elegance and femininity kept intact: a boxy fit and softly structured shoulders, contrasted with an oversized bow that hangs down the back and extra volume through the cut that gives it a beautiful swing when you move. The bow is detachable, so you can wear it with or without.

Fully lined with a beautiful black and navy striped tumbled linen, creating a chic extra layer of warmth for the winter months.

This Kindred of Ireland piece is crafted from Donegal tweed, a fabric valued for its depth, durability and enduring character. To preserve its texture, colour and structure, we recommend dry cleaning only.

Care Instructions: Dry clean only. If needed, gently blot minor spills with a clean, dry cloth, taking care not to rub the fabric. Store in a cool, dry place and use a padded hanger or fold neatly when not in use.

Our made to order pieces have a production time of 3-4 weeks.

Ready to ship items will be shipped within 1-2 working days.

Delivery is £6, and free on orders over £250.

No customs charges for any of our pieces if based in the EU.

The designer A man’s jacket, her way

Our Creative Director, Amy, designed the Tweed Jacket for our first Donegal tweed collection, launched for her thirtieth birthday. Kindred had grown up alongside her, and she wanted a cloth with more weight to it. She found it in Donegal.

Tweed had always been cut for men: boxy, serious, built to last. Amy wanted to reimagine that jacket for today without losing what made it good. She kept the double-breasted shape, then added a bow at the back that only shows as you walk away. Masculine from the front, feminine from behind.

It began as a small experiment, and became our best-loved tweed.

Woven on the Atlantic edge of Ireland, by a family who have done it for six generations. The yarn is spun and dyed close to the loom, and the colours come from what surrounds it: the sea, the hills, the changing sky.

Here, a deep navy that reads plain from across a room, and is anything but up close. Flecks of other colours surface, spun into the yarn long before it meets the loom.

We keep our making close to home on purpose. Belfast was once the linen capital of the world, and the skills that built it are rare now. Making here is how we keep them alive.
