Let me introduce you to the girl you want to be mates with...

Hannah and I (Amy) have known each other since we were babies… we used to fight pretty passionately over things like who’s Baby Born was best dressed and who was taller (she beat me by about 5 metres) but here we are 26 years on - still mates and still playing dress up!

Style icon then and still now, Hannah’s wardrobe is fun, colourful and sophisticated. On weekdays she’ll be suited up in Belfast bossing her days as a lawyer, while on the weekends you’ll find her effortlessly nailing some bold colour clashes. Also an interior queen, follow her fixer-upper reno account @life.on.the.rise

    In her own words…

Tell us a little bit about yourself…

I’m Hannah and I live in East Belfast with my husband Robbie and our golden retriever called Lacie. I’m a corporate lawyer and a huge advocate of supporting local businesses and start up companies.

Over the last year we’ve been renovating our house which we moved into on the first day of lockdown. I created Life on the Rise to document our house transformation as it came to a standstill after all the structural changes were finished but the decor was held up while the shops were closed. I love having interior design as another creative outlet and can’t wait to get stuck in again now that the shops have reopened!

How would you describe your style…

I love having different styles for work and everyday life. In the office I wear a lot of tailored suits and structured dresses so I like to contrast that with my usual style outside of work when i wear more loose fitting and oversized clothes like dungarees and smock dresses. Over the past year or so I’ve learnt a lot more about slow fashion and try to be more conscious and intentional about where I buy my clothes and who makes them. I find it a lot harder to find workwear which has been made ethically and sustainably and my wardrobes for work and personal life are usually quite separate but I try to invest in a few pieces like the Cadhla shirt which will transition across both. For both wardrobes I love to incorporate lots of colour which I think reflects my personality but for going out my outfits are usually neutral so it’s either a rainbow or completely black - there’s no in between!

The skincare/makeup products you couldn't live without?

I am a huge skincare fanatic and I love the Bobbi Brown vitamin enriched face base and an illuminating Bioderma spf. I love make up but since I started working from home full time I don’t really wear it anymore but if I do it’s quite minimal. I usually just wear some concealer and mascara - Glossier stretch concealer and Charlotte tilbury legendary lashes are my favourites.

Who are the three people you’d invite to dinner?

David Attenborough, Louis Theroux and Alexa Chung

    What’s your fave Kindred product?

The Daisy dress! I love the detailed straps and bows at the back. I’m a huge fan of versatile pieces that can be dressed up or down and this is the perfect example - it could be worn to a wedding or with trainers for a casual weekend look. I also think it would look fab on holiday with a tan and some sandals!
